The event is open to all New Mexico middle school and high school youth and their adult partners. Admission is free, but please let us know you’re coming!
Schedule
Plan to arrive between 4:30 and 5:00 pm. We’ll have a DJ, games, and activities on the sidewalk in front of the KiMo Theatre.
At 5:00 pm, the “stars” and VIPs arrive by limo to walk the red carpet, announced by Leah Black of KISS 97.3. Don’t miss it!
Doors open after the red carpet walk at approximately 5:20 pm.
The program will end at approximately 7:00 pm.
After-Party
After the show, join us at Warehouse 508 for a fabulous After-Party featuring DJ Bright.White. We'll have pizza, salad, soft drinks and dancing from 7:30 until 10:00 pm.
Warehouse 508 is located just eight blocks from the KiMo Theatre at
508 First St. NW. (See directions below.)
Dress to impress!
Although it’s not required, a lot of people coming to the Fame and Shame Awards enjoy dressing up for the awards show.
Star Contest
If you’d like to come dressed as your favorite celebrity or Hollywood star, you can enter our Star Contest. “Stars” will ride in a limo and walk the red carpet. Judges will select six finalists, and the audience will pick the winner!
To participate, you must register for the Star Contest by Friday, April 30 at 5:00 pm. There are only 20 slots available for the contest!
1. Choose a celebrity/character that you will be dressing up as.
2. Send an email to burban@nmvoices.org with your full name, coalition name and which celebrity/ character you will be dressing up as.
3. Be at the KiMo Theatre no later than 4:30 pm on May 8.

VIP Reception
A VIP reception will be held for:
- Nominees for the Youth Kicking Tobacco's Butt Advocate of the Year Awards.
- Writers and producers in the Talk Back to Big Tobacco! Script & Storyboard Contest.
The VIP reception will be held 4:30-5:00 pm in the KiMo Gallery. Use the entrance door to the right of the main theater entrance.
Dress Rehearsal
If you are a youth presenter, please arrive at 1:30 pm for the dress rehearsal (2:00 – 4:00 pm) Please enter through the stage door – on the left side of the building on 5th Street.
Directions
The Fame & Shame Awards will be held at the historic KiMo Theatre, 423 Central Avenue NW in downtown Albuquerque NM.
If you’re coming from out-of-town, take I-25 to Albuquerque. If you’re coming from the east or west, take I-40 to I-25 South.
Exit at Central Avenue (Exit 224 A or B). Turn west (downhill) on Central Avenue. Go ten blocks.
The KiMo Theatre will be on your right, on the corner of Central Avenue and 5th Street.
Free Parking
Free parking is available in the parking lot at Central Ave and 6th Street, one block west of the KiMo Theatre. Enter the lot from 6th Street north of Central Ave.
Print out this parking permit and display it on your dashboard to get free parking from noon to 10:00 pm!
Directions to the After Party at Warehouse 508:
- From the KiMo Theatre, go east three blocks on Central Avenue.

Turn left at Second Street.

Go four blocks north.

Turn right at Roma Avenue.

Take the first right onto First Street.

Warehouse 508 will be on your left at 508 First St. NW.
